Week 7

Hi I'm Quillan and I'm Archie and we are your blogga logas for this week.
Now for what's happened for the last 2 weeks.                                                                                                                                                                                        Last Friday, sports teams had their last game, good results for some teams, bad for other teams. The teams that competed follow  . Soccer A, Soccer B, Netball A, Netball B, Hockey A, Hockey B, Rugby, they all played their last game on Friday.                                                                                                 On Monday Quillan Dextar, Jake Dickey and Joshua Kitchingham did kapahaka at the cultural festival. We had practiced all Friday morning and all Monday. Now it was time to go home for 2 hours. When we came back to school at 5 'O' Clock we came inside to get in our Kapahaka uniform, the boys had to wear skirts (well that's what it looked like to me)and ear rings and the girls wore dress's, 2 ear rings feathers and belts. I had a late but great night. We watched" Bridge to Terebithia" for A.V.A.I.L.L.L. and we have just finished it . Hi I'm Kevin and I'm the new pupil.I arrived here last Friday from Blenheim it rhymes with lemon are so so sour, let's get to the point. Kevin's  already made 2 friends and he's already been  on a trip Ice skating. Talking about Ice skating that's next.
Kevin
ICE SKATING!                                      ICE SKATING!                                            ICE SKATING!       On Thursday we went to Alpine Ice,  when we got there it took ages to get our ice skates on and skate because there were two other schools there too. During the 2 hours we played 2 games one was spin the bottle and the other one was a dance party that was fun .One helper gave out free b's so you collected  a small coke.  The parents who helped are Marina's daddy, Archie's mummy, Will's mummy Eden's mummy and Max's mummy. Casey,   Elena and Harry all skated really well and showed lots of skills. Quillan fell over the most.  What a hero!!

Welcome to room 24 I'm Beau and this is Elena we are your bloggerloggers.  Congrats to all the people who took part in the poetry finals  which are Will, Quillan ,George, Marina and Jake. And We all wish them good luck. ;)

We've been doing our post cards for report writing, some of them are looking fantastic. Some people did post cards from faraway like Mexico, Russia, South Africa,  South pole and London. First we needed to write where we are, who to  and 5 thing about the place. Then draw an amazing picture to make it look nice.
Then we give it to fabulous Mr Williams and he does his magic  but we have to do FIFTY-FIVE of them .Each person does two but Nikau did three ;)

We even started our innovation. Our topic is what people made that changed the way people did things, we had four things to choose out of diorama, computer, posters and booklet. Wonderful  Marina and Leia finished theirs, their topic was cameras. They put a lot of effort in it

We had finished the movie HOLES it was funny :) and sad :(  its about Stanlay Yelnats getting sent to Camp Green Lake but he meets a boy called ZERO actual name (Hector Zeroni ) and that's all we're going to tell you, don't wanna be SPOILER.

On 21st of August  the year 4 had a bake sale in the  U. There were lot of thing to choose from like sushi, cake, cup cakes, muffins etc.  Some classes went with their cute buddies, room 24 helped them with change and some buddies  bought lots and lots of treats, hope your teeth are not rotten ;)

On Tuesday Elena and Shayan did a play on Antarctica with the other ESOL children. It was excellent it must have been hard to memorise all the words. It was about a group of people going to Scott Base  in Antarctica and Shayan got charged at  by a group of  penguins and knocked him self out! That's all for today, BYE!!!

Week 3, Term Three

Hello there I am Josh and I am Leia. And we are this weeks Blogga loggas. our first topic is VERY SAD !!!
Mr Williams did NOT come to school for about ONE AND A HALF WEEKS!! There was water up to our knees with tears. And screaming children bouncing wall to wall. Well it wasn't too bad because we had Mrs Glasson for about a week, because he couldn't find his voice. It seems to be back to full strength now!!

Next we will talk about the Winter Tournament. Well the netball A&B team went, the B team wasn't too bad and the A team was AWESOME !! Because they are going to the Canterbury's for the netball tournament . Now for the soccer A&B team. Congratulations on the A team for also going to Canterbury's . However the soccer B team did not do so well. They had to play some A teams and which was difficult, so they didn't win many games and they came 7th out of 8th. The rugby team  tried hard and came 4th in their grade. The hockey team were fabulous and won so they are going to the Canterbury's too.

Last Friday the soccer B team played Cotswold B. We had 3 players away and 3 who forgot thier gear, so we weren't feeling very confident! Beau, our regular goalie was away, so although Josh said to put Shayan in goal, Mr W tried Quillan. He did his best , but Cotswold were really skilled, and by half time it was 5 - 2. Gulp. Thankfuly Mr W put Shayan in goal. And their best player broke through our defence and took a high powered shot and Shayan jumped up high, and flicked it over the bar. He was diving, kicking and jumping on the ball and was brilliant! They only scored one more goal. Josh scored both our goals but  Shayan got player of the day.And there is a picter of shayan at the bottom.

Our next topic is poetry competition. We still have about 2weeks. And we will just tell you that Leia is doing one called Cat and Josh is doing one called, I think I'm related to Big Foot. We are practising lots and lots. Some of us already memorised our poem!! Emma, Isaac, Marina, Will has and a few more people have. They have to be 12 lines long, and the class competition is in week 5.

YAHO!!!! Casey & Elena are back in our class for maths again. they are using a red text book which is a stage 5. Eden, Beau still goes to Ms Wakefeild. Also Shayan started to go. I (Leia) think Elena & Casey are great at maths.

Our next topic is about the postcards that Rm 24 is writing. We had to do a draft in our draft writing book.We had to make it up all by yourself . You had to choose where your'e going to send it from and where your going to send it to. It could be from Japan to China or France to Canada it could be anywhere you want.I (Leia) enjoy making the postcards so I think everybody else does too.

Our next topic is AVAILLL.It is sort of like a movie but with subtitles on. The movie was  "Hook"The first time that we did is surprise subtitles, the second was another word hunt and the 3rd was take a dictionary to the movies.
For the surprise subtitles while we watch the movie Mr W will stop the movie and we have to write
the last subtitle we read. The next word hunt is where there is a word and ours was with and every time you see the word with on the subtitles you have to see what the word after it and write it down. Now for take a dictionary to the movies it is where Mr W puts us into groups of 3 or 4 and numbered us off  and gave us dictionary. He stopped the movie on a really hard word and we would have a competition to see what page in the dictionary it was on. Great fun! The next movie will be tomorrow, we can't wait!

That's all we have time for today, next week we will include a photo of world famous goalie Shayan. Bye for now.  Leia and Josh, (with help from strong silent Will).

Good morning St Albans School. We are your blogger loggers for this week. I'm Kegan and I'm Nikau.  and that fellow over there is Will. Recently room 24 have had their P.A.T. tests. Jake and Catherine got the highest marks in the class. Good job you two. The tests were on Maths and Reading. Mr Williams was very pleased.

As usual in the morning room 24 have been doing their probes. Lots of peoples results have improved, their times have gotten faster and most people are getting 20/20. Mr Williams has been very impressed  with our results.

A couple of weeks ago room 24 had their IKAN tests. Some people were afraid of the speed that the questions were going at and got some of the questions wrong!

On Monday room 24 went to the Water Treatment Station. Thank you all the parents who took us in their fabulous cars. When we got there we met Chris and he taught us about water. It was very fascinating . Chris told us about stuff like the Aquifers that were under ground. Then we all got into groups and did a group activity. In a day our family would use over 4120 litres and Ethiopia could only use 40 litres a day.

Recently room 24 has had a desk swap and most people have enjoyed the swap . We were allowed to pick who we sat next to and we had a vote about how we organised the desks. We decided we wanted rows! Just like the old days! Mr Williams was very amused. Kegan is sitting next to motor mouth Quillan and I'm sitting next to giggly gurgly Josh.

On Monday our school had a book parade . It was such a colourful day and there were book characters everywhere. Mr Bump AKA George Allen, Enderman AKA Archie Simpson, Thing1 and Thing2 AKA Elena Krauze/Eden Hailemichael were the people with the best costumes in our class.

On Wednesday Kegan and Jake went to the X country. They did very well.  Jake came 83rd and Kegan  came 89th.  Good job you two.The X country was held at Halswell Quary. There were 200 children in the year 5 boys race!

Every morning room 24 has at least 1 person to do a prepared talk and 1 person to do a book review. A prepared talk is when someone talks about a topic for 3 minutes and the audience must comment on it at the end. A book review is when someone gets up and talks about a certain book and tells us the plot, the author and other things.

One of the best bits of Book Week was when Craig Smith, the author of Wonkey Donkey came to school to entertain us. He sang and played and told us all about being an author. Another great part of Book Week was the Book Olympics. We had to answer questions about books, and then rush back to the hall with the answers. All the classes took part, we were part of the Y 5 and 6 competition. The questions were really tricky but lots of fun.

Thats all for now folks. Here are some photos from Will.

Hello everybody we are  your blogger loggers for this week. I'm Eden and I'm Marina, first of all we are going to talk about Elena returns! Elena came back on Tuesday the 20th of May, we were all excited to see her back again. Also as a surprise she brought a big wombat(not a real one just a stuffed toy) Rm 24 named it............. WOMZILLA!!! She got it from the Australian airport when she was coming back to NZ from Russia.                                                                                                          Drip Drip Drip is our main focus for this term! We have been looking for water wasters at our homes. Last week Kegan was in the newspaper because he did really really really well at rugby so he is a media SUPERSTAR!!  On Thursday 22nd  of May we had a visit from a St John lady named Heather. She taught us everything that a doctor does it was amazing we learnt lots of things like the D.R.S ABC and that stands for Danger, Respond, Send 4 help, Airway, Breathing and C.P.R. A big shout out to Heather for teaching us a lot of things, we appreciate your help. On Thursday 22nd of May Isaac did a prepared talk on dolphins it  was splashtasic!  Did you know that dolphins have bigger brains then humans!?                                                                                                                                                   On Thursday the 22nd of May Rm 24 were organising our basketball team when we heard that we had to have 1 girl on the team and no girls in our class had basketball experience so Will Easten had an idea. He asked Mr. Williams if he had a wig, Mr.Williams did have one from a play about 4 years ago so Will put it on and now he's our girl in our basketball team but instead of calling him Will we now call him Willemina!  He looks so funny with the wig on heeheehee.                                                           On Wednesday 21st of May Charle's dad came to demonstrate how to ride a Yike bike and three other classes and Mrs. Warren came to see him ride it, they were amazed. A Yike bike is a new invention, its made of carbon fibre and lots of other modern materials, it has an electric motor, a horn indicators and lots of other clever features. It goes 30kph and is very cool                                                                       This is our last topic for today and it's about the Winter Sports. We have lots of people in our class that play Winter Sports, 19 of them actually. Most of the boys play soccer and some boys play rugby and two girls play netball Well that's all for today, folks, goodbye and see you next time. Hope you enjoy the photos.
