Good morning St Albans School. We are your blogger loggers for this week. I'm Kegan and I'm Nikau.  and that fellow over there is Will. Recently room 24 have had their P.A.T. tests. Jake and Catherine got the highest marks in the class. Good job you two. The tests were on Maths and Reading. Mr Williams was very pleased.

As usual in the morning room 24 have been doing their probes. Lots of peoples results have improved, their times have gotten faster and most people are getting 20/20. Mr Williams has been very impressed  with our results.

A couple of weeks ago room 24 had their IKAN tests. Some people were afraid of the speed that the questions were going at and got some of the questions wrong!

On Monday room 24 went to the Water Treatment Station. Thank you all the parents who took us in their fabulous cars. When we got there we met Chris and he taught us about water. It was very fascinating . Chris told us about stuff like the Aquifers that were under ground. Then we all got into groups and did a group activity. In a day our family would use over 4120 litres and Ethiopia could only use 40 litres a day.

Recently room 24 has had a desk swap and most people have enjoyed the swap . We were allowed to pick who we sat next to and we had a vote about how we organised the desks. We decided we wanted rows! Just like the old days! Mr Williams was very amused. Kegan is sitting next to motor mouth Quillan and I'm sitting next to giggly gurgly Josh.

On Monday our school had a book parade . It was such a colourful day and there were book characters everywhere. Mr Bump AKA George Allen, Enderman AKA Archie Simpson, Thing1 and Thing2 AKA Elena Krauze/Eden Hailemichael were the people with the best costumes in our class.

On Wednesday Kegan and Jake went to the X country. They did very well.  Jake came 83rd and Kegan  came 89th.  Good job you two.The X country was held at Halswell Quary. There were 200 children in the year 5 boys race!

Every morning room 24 has at least 1 person to do a prepared talk and 1 person to do a book review. A prepared talk is when someone talks about a topic for 3 minutes and the audience must comment on it at the end. A book review is when someone gets up and talks about a certain book and tells us the plot, the author and other things.

One of the best bits of Book Week was when Craig Smith, the author of Wonkey Donkey came to school to entertain us. He sang and played and told us all about being an author. Another great part of Book Week was the Book Olympics. We had to answer questions about books, and then rush back to the hall with the answers. All the classes took part, we were part of the Y 5 and 6 competition. The questions were really tricky but lots of fun.

Thats all for now folks. Here are some photos from Will.
